My Story:
I am a Senior at Wakefield High School in Raleigh, NC. I am part of the first violin section. I am also the Secretary of the Orchestra.
My journey with music started about two years ago. I was inspired by my Grandfather, Jerry Boland, who had taught music at Penn Cambria High School in Cresson, Pennsylvania for many years. I decided to take a beginning strings class in the spring semester of 2013. Within a couple of months, I had learned to read and play music.
With the help of my musical director, LaSaundra Booth, I worked my way up from the back of the second violin section, to the front within a few months time. I have now worked my way into the first violin section and will be featured as a soloist in the orchestra's spring concert! (Tellemann's Concerto For Four Violins in G).
Music has become an essential part of my life. I see everything from a brighter and sweeter perspective because of music. I can speak through my instrument when I can not find the words to speak in tongue. It is the biggest blessing in my life, and I want to be able to share that blessing with as many people as possible.
